This spring 2017 semester I interned at robin b. clothier, which is a privately owned women’s clothing boutique in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. robin b. launched an online retailer the same time the brick and mortar store opened in November of 2015, which ruffle has been in business for almost two years. There is a total of 7 employees, which broken down is three who work in the brick and mortar store, three who are in charge of creating Robin’s clothing line and one male who monitors and changes the website weekly. The company focuses on women’s clothing, handbags and accessories. The brand primary targets professional women 28 to 44 years of age. Robin b. helps women shop quality of a garment that will last season after season at an affordable price. Their mission statement is, “ We are dedicated to helping women make a memorable impression by creating and curating mindfully designed, classic apparel. We believe every professional woman’s wardrobe should have the proper essentials; garments that make up the foundation of their wardrobe, are well constructed, and that can be enjoyed for years to come. I was responsible for assisting Robin with her weekly tasks, which included many different sides of the business. Operating your own business you must be a jack-of-all-trades, which Robin demonstrated throughout the course of my internship. My responsibilities for the retail side of the company were consistent weekly, however my tasks for the corporate side of business changed weekly depending on what was happening in the upcoming weeks.
