Both Rocky and its successor Creed are stories about an underdog boxer getting a match at a championship bout, and although they are made by different directors (John G. Avildsen and Ryan Coogler respectively) they share many similarities, much of them due to the fact that Creed was meant to be a successor or spin off about Adonis Creed, whose father was the legendary Apollo Creed, Rocky’s first major opponent and soon after longtime friend. I am going to compare the difference between characters and setting between the two films.
While watching Rocky and Creed I noticed a large amount of similarities between the films, but also a significant amount of differences, the location for example was set in Philadelphia for the entirety of Rocky

In both films, the main characters Rocky and Adonis, have some sort of monumental training montage, consisting mainly of running large distances, using multiple boxing bags, and practicing fighting/techniques with their trainers, and although a scene like this was not heard of before Rocky it’s obvious that Creed used it to closer follow the story of the original. Creed takes many things from Rocky but one of the things most closely followed was how Brought up and Executed the final boxing match, this is possibly the scene that has the greatest similarity between the films, with the style of filming, attire (at least on Adonis) layout (such as scoring a knockdown against the reigning champion, who in both films, had never been knocked down) and most importantly, lasting the entire match, but losing by points in the last round; Similarly in both films, although they did not win the Match, both Rocky and Adonis thoroughly won the admiration and dedication of those
