The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) by Jim Sharman was originally adapted from The Rocky Horror Show. Cinema has gone through many different genres in a vast array of time periods throughout movie making history. This one in particular captivated the world. The classical Cult classic brought together the freaks of the world and allowed those who are “different” to come together have a good time, dance, and sing. The different methodologies of this movie took away pain and anger that was brought upon the United States. This movie was presented to the United States after the Vietnam War hopefully allowing grieving Americans to forget what happened. The way the movie plays out is completely different than the traditional Classical Hollywood, it has minimal values of the Classical Hollywood. “in fact, the classical Hollywood style is often called “the invisible style,” because it relies on “unobtrusive craftsman ship,” (Thompson 1999 pg. 11) ensuring that viewers will become absorbed in the narrative without paying attention to the filmmaking.”(Pramaggiore & Wallis, 2011). As the movie begins we see immediately these big red sexualized lips begin to appear and begin to sing the theme song of the movie Science Fiction-Double Feature. Which is instantly going to capture our attention. It is Patricia Quinn’s lips that we see dark red and sexualized. We start the first scene of the movie at the wedding of Ralph Hapschatt and Betty Monroe, both Brad Majors and Janet Weiss are the best man and maid of honor for the wedding. The wedding set in a small town of Denton, Ohio whom Brad and Janet first met in College while attending Dr. Scott’s class. Inspired by the events and the love Brad has for Janet, Brad Proposes after the wedding due to Janet catching the bouquet of flowers thrown by the bride and the love deep down inside.
