The Vast Town that Once Prospered Rocky Springs is not much more then a beaten down trail with overgrown trees and ridges. Hard to imagine at one point this town flourished off a natural spring. I never venture out much, but everything I have seen about Rocky Springs was enticing. The remains of the once thriving town and its surroundings left me with an uneasy feeling that pervaded the entire visit. Upon arrival at the abandoned town, I was greeted with an enormous sign telling the general over view of Rocky Springs. I was already skeptical of the place due to how ran down the trail looked at the beginning. The broken fences were hard to miss and littered the trail. Coming up to the church, I was freaked out because a little girl stood on the step just starring at me. Little did I know there was a church service taking place since it was the end of the month. After calming myself down, I walked up the hill to the church. I decided to visit the cemetery first because the service was still taking place. Many of the tombstones were dated back to the late 1700s. Growing mold and cracking signified the oldness of the stones. While in the cemetery I was very skittish because I was there alone, then I walked up to the church. Two large, brown doors tower down showing the entrance. As soon as I stepped in the doors a stale smell hits my nostrils reminding me of my great-grandmother’s. The creaking of the floors makes me jumpy, even though I should expect this. Nearing the end of my visit, I knew I had to make a stop at the waterfall. I followed a beaten down trail that made me tense due to the mysterious sounds. Thirty minutes later I arrived at the waterfall. I jumped over the fence and immediately was greeted with a beautiful stream singing to me. The area was so quiet even the sound of a rock being thrown into the water made me rethink coming alone. Finally I crossed the rocks with some aggravation since the algae made the rocks very slippery. This obstacle left me with a sense of fearfulness for what might come
