Rodney Alcala: Autobiography Rodney Alcala, a serial killer, murdered at least 9 women and girls across the US in the 1970s. Rodney had been to prison for sexual assault and other crimes, but that didn’t seem to stop him as he continued to rape and kill. The autopsies of the victims showed that he would strangle women and then wait until they regained consciousness before the final kill. His final crime before being put behind bars forever was the abduction and murder of a 12-year-old girl. Alcala ended up dying of natural causes in 2021. Alcala raped and strangled Crilley with her stockings in her apartment in June 1971. Hover left behind a calendar stating she was meeting with “John Berger” and was never seen again until later when the remains of her body were found. Alcala was arrested in July 1979 when he abducted and murdered a 12-year-old girl. He was convicted on these charges in 1980. Four years later, the conviction was overturned because the jury had been wrong about Alcala’s criminal record. Another trial in 1986 caused a second guilty verdict, but again in 2001, it was overturned for a technicality.
