During the film, a parody of the film noir genre is displayed through characters such as detective Eddie Valiant and Roger Rabbit’s wife Jessica Rabbit. They, as well as many other characters in the film, are exaggerated versions of some classic film noir archetypes. The movie also makes a parody of the entertainment industry by portraying Hollywood as a cutthroat and corrupt industry where artists are exploited, and creativity is stifled in the pursuit of profit. Both uses of parody are also supported by the movie’s use of satire, as previously explained in an earlier paragraph. The movie’s use of parody not only leads to “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” being extremely entertaining, but also serves to highlight the absurdity of the entertainment industry and the film noir genre.
