What is a nonstandard person? A nonstandard person referred by Roger Wilkins is not being able to fit in culturally; being outcast by others and being humiliated for being different. Roger Wilkins at the age of 12 was made to feel ashamed for being culturally different. The other’s students made it a statement show Wilkins that he didn’t belong or fit in to their society. By bullying Wilkins into believing that his culture and ethnicity was nothing to be proud about. Therefore, he felt like a nonstandard person in his neighborhood and classroom.
