Beatty understands the way the world works in retrospect to the events leading up to the current situation of their government. As a fireman you must know what you are doing and how it benefits your society. Beatty explains the reason that books are banned to Montag, and doing so helps us understand the most important factor in the story. You must not offend anyone whatsoever. To maintain peace you must cease from reading or writing anything that could slightly be taken out of context. "Colored people don't like Little Black Sambo. Burn it. White people don't feel good about Uncle Tom's Cabin. Burn it."(pg. 59) Instead of causing conflict and turmoil we must find a way to make everyone happy and satisfied. This speech dealt with the increasing hate crimes bestowed on the colored population. The Civil Rights Act of 1968 was enacted to permit federal prosecution of anyone who "willingly injures, intimidates, or interferes with another person, or attempts to do so by force because of the other person's race, color, religion, or natural
