Per our conversation via telephone earlier today and on behalf of Colleen McManus, this email is to seek approval of our intention to provide a conditional pay stipend to the ADC Inspector General, Greg Lauchner. As you are aware, the Governor’s office appointed the ADC Deputy Director, Jeff Hood, as the Interim Director of ADJC. To cover the roll of ADC Deputy Director during his absence, Greg Lauchner has assumed the duties of that position. Director Ryan desires to compensate Mr. Lauchner with a $1,000 stipend per month during the time period he performs these duties. Request approval.
The sound of screams and sobs fill the air as children and their mothers say goodbye for the last time. This was a repetitive routine during World War ll. Night is a literary memoir of Elie Wiesel’s catastrophe in the concentration camps during the Holocaust. Throughout his recollection, the imagery used leaves no doubt in the reader’s imagination about the horrors Elie experienced. His diction and use of detail made his moral of the story as clear as glass.
Ever since humans came to be, they have done many things to ensure their survival. It’s the reason why we humans have evolved as much as we have. Humans have invented devices, accomplished many challenges, and have even relied on nothing but willpower to survive. When somebody survives a tragic event they are left with some terrifying memories that haunt them forever, but a few survivors are courageous enough to share their experience. Obviously, one of the shared experiences is the book called Night by Elie Wiesel.
Night by Elie Wiesel is a memoir about his experience as a victim of the Holocaust. Elie was moved to a Jewish ghetto when he was young and then transported to Auschwitz. During his experience in the Holocaust, Elie gives up on himself and his religious beliefs. In the memoir Night, a central idea about how it is easy to lose faith in times of despair and darkness is shown through imagery and dramatic irony.
Primary or Secondary? Should survival be your primary goal in life? I believe that unless you're in a life or death situation survival shouldn't be your main goal. A very good example of a life or death situation is the holocaust, The book “Night” by Elie Wiesel describes his experience as jew during that tragic event moving from concentration camp to concentration camp eating scarce amounts of food. In many cases other goals seem to overshadow survival like protecting family, For example, in “Night by Elie Wiesel he should be thinking about himself however he gives his food to his father who is a hindrance to him at this point because there are going to come times were survival is going to overpowered by other goals.
Wiesel’s Survival The Holocaust was arguably the most devastating massacre against humanity in the past century. It is estimated that up to six million Jews were annihilated in this atrocious event. The novel Night is a memoir written by Elie Wiesel. The novel takes place in various concentration camps. Elie Wiesel and his father, Shlomo Wiesel, are the two main characters of Night. Elie, his father, and all the other Jews trapped in the concentration camps face dehumanization by the Nazis. Throughout the novel, Elie Wiesel’s view of God changes and affects his identity.
Live to Achieve Your Goals Survival should always be the primary goal. Elie Wiesel in the book "Night" lived to achieve his goals. Although some people might think that survival should not always be the primary goal, it isn't true because surviving is the main one in the long run, we think about how we will live if we achieve some kind of goal. And also survival isn't only keeping yourself alive it's also the things that keep you going and motivate you to live, meaning its the primary goal in life. Some people may think that survival isn’t a goal, it is an instinct.
As people we try to have good morals but, when faced with a horrific event, such as the Holocaust our morals tend to change. The memoir Night is a true story based on Elie Wiesel, a boy who survived the Holocaust. Elie and his father, Shlomo, went through almost two years of torture in different concentration camps until his father eventually passed away. Elie had to endure so much pain at a young age. In these camps, the dark and angry side of humanity was truly exposed.
Elie Wiesel’s Night, shows how hard it was to live and be a Jew during the time of the holocaust due to all the deaths, camps, and losses. Elie’s book shows readers what kind of events and actions were the cause of death of some prisoners and the thing that caused the survival of others. Throughout the book, many prisoners ended up giving up the hope to continue living, while others were able to find enough hope and love in family and friends to find a reason to hold on to life and try to survive. The weather, the selections, and family, were the three biggest things that costed some prisoners their lives and affected the will of others to live. Elie uses dialogue and examples of items and family members that the prisoners lost or were afraid to lose to show what caused some prisoners give up all hope of survival and why other prisoners were able to endure.
Resilience is the ability to recover quickly from difficulties. It is the ability to bounce back, no matter if it 's an object or person. As Margaret Thatcher said, “You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it.” In the book, Night, by Elie Wiesel, a young Elie Wiesel and his family are taken from their hometown, Sighet, and sent to the Auschwitz concentration camp. In this book, Wiesel relives and tells the horrors and nightmares of what his friends, family, and himself went through while in the camps.
In Night by Elie Wiesel the author shows resilience is how people survive through difficult times. Elie shows resilience by never giving up hope on surviving and working hard to keep his life going to make it out of the war. A specific instance is when they have begun the run from one camp to another with the SS shooting people who were left behind “I kept repeating to myself ‘Don’t stop, don’t think, run!’ Near me men were collapsing into dirty snow. Gunshots.”
The theory survival of the fittest is represented throughout their Journey to Buchenwald because a son killed his own father over a piece of bread and then a father killed his own son for the same reason. This displays that the only thing prisoners cared about was their own survival. After visualizing such traumatizing event Wiesel is in fear that he will become like them and slowly he does. One of the prisoners suggest Elie to keep the ration given to his father for himself because it will benefit him. Elie feels that his father has become a burden, his father can risk both of them being killed.
The severely cruel conditions of concentration camps had a profound impact on everyone who had the misfortune of experiencing them. For Elie Wiesel, the author of Night and a survivor of Auschwitz, one aspect of himself that was greatly impacted was his view of humanity. During his time before, during, and after the holocaust, Elie changed from being a boy with a relatively average outlook on mankind, to a shadow of a man with no faith in the goodness of society, before regaining confidence in humanity once again later in his life. For the first 13 years of his life, Elie seemed to have a normal outlook on humanity.
Survival of the fittest The theme of survival of the fittest is shown throughout the memoir Night. Night was written by Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel. In this memoir Elie explains as well as shows survival of the fittest, by sharing his story of his struggles along with countless other Jews during the holocaust. He illustrated the theme of survival of the fittest in the memoir night through the situations of Elie lying about his age during selection, the Rabbi's son leaving his father, during the death march, and the son killing his father over a crust of bread.
