The novel is based in a futuristic American society, where technology has affected humanity negatively. The story revolves around a firefighter named Montag, who lives in a futuristic American society where books are banned by a government that fears an independent society. Montag begins satisfied and proud of his job as a fireman, finding that burning books gives him the best feeling of adrenaline and power. This later changes when he meets a sweet, loving and caring young girl who enlightens him with a new mindset, getting him to think about communication and happiness, rather than violence and destruction.
