Introduction Democracy is a political system in which the citizens are involve in the decisions and governing of the country regarding choices that will affect their lives. Citizens have the right to participate directly or indirectly in the shaping of the country through the voting system. Malaysia is a federal representative democratic constitutional monarchy. As citizens of a democratic country, we can exercise the right to choose the ruling goverment that will lead the country as a representative of the people. However, the youth’s country has develope an indifference towards political voting giving a rise in concerns as most chose not to vote. Youths are the leaders of the future who will determine the country’s path therefore political participation is an important aspect of the country. Issues & Solutions The rise in youths not voting is a worrisome event that can be contributed due to psychological behaviour, mindset and attitude of youths. Increasing political knowledge by introducing subjects in universities and schools that encourage youths to participate in political discussions ensures that they know the importance of their role as youths in the developement of our country. Breeding confidence in youth with subjects that increases critical thinking developes a positive attitude and mindset towards their choices. It is also shown that a person with a higher awareness and education is more likely to be a participant in political events.
