The President has many roles while exercising his power and authority. The Chief Executive role makes the president head of the executive branch of the federal government. The role enforces laws, federal court decision and treaties. This role involves appointing or removing someone from a high ranking office, with the Senate’s approval; granting pardons, reprieves and amnesties; handling national emergencies such as riots or natural disasters. Examples of this role would be appointing someone to serve as the head of the CIA and in the Cuban Missile Crisis President Kennedy held cabinet meetings to discuss the pictures taken over Cuba, showing that Cuba housed missiles for the Soviet Union.
