This quote is demonstrating close friendships and the importance of keeping them alive..Through her novel, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, author Mildred D. Taylor shows that Family and friends are the ones who will make sacrifices for you no matter what Uncle Hammer selling his car Stacy protecting TJ, Papa sets a quarter of his cotton on fire to try and save T.J.
One of the first moments I see the Logan family sacrifice their life or land to save others that are struggling.For example, Uncle Hammer sold his car so Papa could pay The bank because they wanted the loan in full. And Uncle Hammer said “What good's a car? It can't grow cotton. You can't build a home on it. And you can't raise four fine babies in it” (Taylor 236). This example shows strong sacrifice when uncle hammer sells his car to help pay the bank the loan in full. Because they’ve had the land for generations, and he does not want the Logan family to lose it.
