The height of Rome began in 118 CE because it was the largest in size. It encompassed the Mediterranean Sea. Rome once had a magnificent army, and the Romans earned glory around the world. Roman peace was a result of the Pax Romana. Both military and political victories were achieved. This suddenly changed. Rome, a city that expanded to become one of the largest empires in the world, began to slowly disintegrate in the 5th century as a result of its problems. The Roman Empire fell because of three main reasons which are unstable leadership, catastrophic events, and weak government issues.

Natural disasters occurred, and the plague disease began to spread to Rome. The Roman world was violently and destructively shaken by an earthquake in the second year of Valen’s reign. This demonstrates how the earthquake caused extensive damage and destruction, which put Rome in a difficult situation. This contributed to their downfall because of the tremendous harm done. Rome ended up being left with very little. Many lives had been lost in this earthquake. In Document F, it explains how the plague brought the population of Rome from one million to 250,000, so it killed 75 percent of the people. This shows how the plague lowered the population drastically. This loss of population made it harder for Rome to find laborers and soldiers for war. The economy suffered and Rome was forced to acknowledge the loss of its power. The people of Rome were shocked and scared by this catastrophe, and their fearful conceit led them to believe that there was a correlation between the signs of an imperial decline and the sinking world. This shows how Rome panicked when they saw they were falling short. The decline in population and land affected them tremendously. These are just a few examples of how the Western Roman Empire Fell. Although there is still another major reason for how it
