Why would Eric Harris – who was considered the “mastermind” of the Columbine High School massacre – would choose to have a partner for carrying out the rampage? Because he had lonely life, maybe he wanted someone with by him. Also, he had psychology problems, and wanted someone to help his plans. Therefore, the reason why he chose to have a partner is for sentimental issues, having someone by him.
In the two articles “Sail On” and “Should Columbus Have a Holiday” there are many similarities and differences. One similarity is that the two talk about how he discovered the Americas. Also, one difference is that one article talks about how he was the first man to discover the Americas, and the other talks about how someone else discovered them before him. There are many more similarities and differences but these are just a few. To begin with these articles are very different but they do have a few similarities.
In his short essay, Richard Rodriguez began with a reminiscence of his childhood Christmas filled with warmth and tenderness from his family. The joy of opening presents in the morning and seeing happiness within the family take a sudden turn when Rodriguez transition to the “listless” conversation and “uncomfortable” atmosphere of his annual Christmas celebration. Columbus Day should be celebrated because Columbus had done a lot to get to the point of sailing. According to documents 6 “ Christopher Columbus was the greatest, because he accomplished the most against the highest odds before Columbus ' time all European voyages had followed coastlines, or cross open seas to land previously known or at least cited by storm driven ships. Only Columbus set off directly across the board, unknown sea with no specific knowledge of how far an extended or what lay on the other side. “This is a Columbus went through a lot of odds to find Asia even though he landed in the Bahamas. This also shows that Columbus was the only one who didn 't get there by the storm.

This quotation shows the narrator’s hope for his love to be there when he gets home. However, he acknowledges that this hope is unrealistic by characterizing his lover as a “ghost”- something intangible, of the past.

To begin, Columbus Day is the only holiday that our nation perceives the 26 million Italian Americans. Because Italian Americans were fiercely ethnically discriminated; consequently, they celebrated a holiday that the American during the time would accept, Columbus Day. Recent studies show 57% of people celebrate Columbus. Frank Guarini from the National Italian American Foundation says: “Columbus Day is not just a celebration of Columbus’ arrival, but a day Italian American share their heritage with all Americans.” Secondly, his personality isn’t what we would celebrate him for.

However, the moon also carries “the first few stars,” showing that in the midst of darkness their is a glimpse of light. Although the speaker is always left sad when mother visits, the speaker also feels a little love that a mother rightfully possess. The moon came only to visit with no intention to stay. It comes and go and is headed to the “northern sky”. The moon passes the room as path to her intended destination.
” These lines could be a mixture of metaphor and imagery as well from the picture it paints with the descriptive lyrics and the non literal dream oriented lyrics. The fireflies represent a peter pan type of concept when states “Leave my door open just a crack/ Please take me away from here.” This sentence forms a metaphor as well because the concept is not to be taken literally. Repetition plays a part in this song due to the literary devices of getting the main point across.
