The style of Romanticism could be said as the antithesis of what I originally imagined it to be. Instead of being romantic like suggested or filled with cupids and classical interpretations of love. Romanticism instead has this focus on passion and ambiguity. In Guy Tal’s article he showcases Francisco Goya’s Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters in his Caprichos series as a sublime example where Goya’s positioning of the subjects hands is actually a message of melancholia to the viewers.
