Everyone suffers at least one bad betrayal in their lifetime. In Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, Friar Lawrence betrays Romeo and Juliet. The play is about a young woman and a young adult male who fall in love and want to get married and live together. They get married in secret and then everything starts falling apart around them until they eventually die of suicide. The tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is entirely caused by Friar Lawrence. Friar Lawrence has devised multiple schemes and leads Romeo and Juliet the entire time. For example, he had Romeo and Juliet get married in secret. Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet, meaning that they aren’t allowed to marry. Friar Lawrence agreed to help them do it secretly so everyone was unaware of what was happening.
