Comparison Essay Pyramus and Thisbe are closely related to Romeo and Juliet. There are similar plot devices, characters, settings, and themes. Shakespeare also changed some elements of the story, making it his own. These similarities and differences make the stories different, and allows Shakespeare to develop his story. The two stories are extremely similar, and have minor differences that make each story its own. The plot in both stories is the same. Pyramus and Thisbe are two young kids, who can’t be together. In Pyramus and Thisbe the two lovers speak to each other through a crack in the wall, even though they are forbidden to be together. In Romeo and Juliet they are also forbidden to be together, but still try. In both stories in resulted in the couple's death. In Pyramus and Thisbe both killed themselves because Thisbe believed Pyramus was dead, while he truly wasn’t. In Romeo and Juliet the same scenario happened, but Romeo believed Juliet was dead. Juliet woke up to find Romeo dead, and then stabbed herself. Shakespeare kept Pyramus and Thisbe in renamed them Romeo and Juliet. He changed their story slightly, but kept the shell of the characters. The most notable setting that is similar in both stories in the tomb. Both couples killed themselves in a room with a tomb.
