Romeo and Juliet and Gnomeo and Juliet are two different stories with the same plot and meaning. One is the traditional story created by William Shakespeare while the other is a British-American movie that came out in 2011. In this essay it tells the differences between the two and how they relate and differ. Romeo and Juliet is a more young-adult play meant for older readers. The mood of the play was more sad and depressing because Juliet and Romeo were getting separated, they ended up dying in the end.

Juliet says these lines during the night when she is on the balcony, talking out her thoughts on Romeo. Also, during this scene Romeo is listening to all the thoughts that Juliet is speaking out loud without her knowing.
Both couples of these stories share a deep connection and love for each other, but are forbidden to be together because of their parents. Shakespeare very quickly introduces the problem in the prologue of Romeo and Juliet, narrating, “A pair of star-cross 'd lovers take their life; Whose misadventured piteous overthrows Do with their death bury their parents ' strife”(Shakespeare 1.0.6-8). Romeo and Juliet’s parents’ long held adversity is directly explained to be what leads to the series of tragic events and death of the two lovers since they hold no power to be together. Likewise, in “Pyramus and Thisbe”, Ovid writes about Pyramus and Thisbe that, “Their nearness Made them acquainted, and love grew, in time, So that they would have married, but their parents Forbade it”(4-7).
Romeo and Juliet is a story about two young lovers whose relationship is forbidden by society. Throughout the play, William Shakespeare addresses the concept of whether the opinions of others should affect our choices or destinies. In the play, Romeo and Juliet choose to follow their hearts and disregard the opinions of their families and society. Their love for each other is so strong that they are willing to do whatever it takes to be together even if it meant going against the norms of society.
Terror struck citizens this morning as the Capulet and Montague families continued to carry out their strife publicly on the streets of Verona, resulting in the deaths of Mercutio Escalus, kin to Prince Escalus, and Tybalt Capulet, a dear cousin to the Capulet family, as well as the banishment of Romeo Montague. How can a story as old as 1591 still be relevant today? Well the answer is movies and plays. There have been so many renditions of Romeo and Juliet, and most people have likely seen at least one rendition. The real question though is how do contemporary storytellers adapt a classic to reach a new audience? The answer to that question is that all of the movies are different.
These ‘star-crossed lovers’ really fell for each other. These classic tragedies are well known for their own twist of love, featuring obstacles. Romeo and Juliet as well as Pyramus and Thisbe are both great works of literature that feature lovers that take their life for each other. Both stories have enemies, but they are not alike. Pyramus and Thisbe must overcome a beast, a lioness.
On the other hand, Ovid’s characters in “Pyramus and Thisbe” are more affected by personal choice, but both lead to the same tragedy.
In the two stories there are four main differences and similarities for the first example there is the Wall which comes from “Pyramus and Thisbe” and there are the rival families which come from Romeo and Juliet. The wall in "Pyramus and Thisbe" represents the differences in their families that keep them apart. This can be compared to the feud between the Montague and Capulet families which kept Romeo and Juliet apart. This feud kept them apart just as the wall keeps “Pyramus and Thisbe” apart. Ovid described the wall as, "The hateful wall that separated them..." (947).

William Shakespeare has written many impactful works that are still talked about today, even 400 years after his death. His plays are performed in almost every language, on stage, and at multiple festivals. This demonstrates the effectiveness of Shakespeare's writing, which represents the power of storytelling. Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth are two examples of Shakespeare's plays that portray narrative in different ways, but are still known to many people. Three main aspects that help distinguish the two plays from each other are the central theme, conflict, and characterization.
The plot for Romeo and Juliet and Pyramus and Thisbe for Romeo and Juliet is a long story or play where as Pyramus and Thisbe is a short narrative poem. See Romeo and Juliet had love at first sight, where as Pyramus and Thisbe were neighbors and built their relationship through time. Although both characters families did not like each other.
For this found poem, I chose to go through out Juliet's’ life and show how different events led to her death. Everyone in the city of Verona knew how beautiful Juliet was and how her family, the Capulet’s, and the Montagues, were in a huge feud. Juliet was still very young, but during the Elizabethan Age it was common for girls to get married at a young age. Juliet does not know anything about love or marriage because the thought has never crossed her mind. Juliet's’ mother, Lady Capulet, told her, “think of marriage now.”
In my U.S. History class, my teacher has an image of The Mona Lisa because there some history behind the picture. For example, who drew The Mona Lisa? Well, it was Leonardo da Vinci.
