Personally, the Baz Luhrmann 1997 version of Mercutio’s Death scene in Romeo and Juliet was more effective out of the two we’ve been presented. Initially, This version of the scene indubitably grabbed my attention for the reason of it’s dramatic, serious and suspenseful plot that makes me want to keep watching. The modern version has a lot more action and it is not simple to follow along than in the other version of this scene. Specifically, The fighting is a clear example of my thinking. In the Polanski 1968 version, the fighting takes place with swords and cheering from bystander people who are laughing and enjoying themselves. In the second version, there is more blood and violence and people are casually carrying guns around which makes things even more scary. The first version of the battle between Tybalt and Mercutio starts as a playful game, an entertainment for the townspeople and before anyone notices Mercutio cries out his death words. When things are not going very well for the main characters the background music became more dramatic and the settings change with the mood.Specifically, after Tybalt makes his final move to kill Mercutio the music becomes softer and slowly builds up until Mercutio screams his curses and right then what suggested to look like a sunny day on the beach becomes a loud, scary and dark day. In the first play the mood makes me sympathy and feel the pain and emotions of characters suffer alternative to the first play when the mood suggest to stay the same most of the time. Mood changes through settings and music connects viewers with the characters on an emotional level by making the interaction deep and meaningful and allows the audience to viscerally take part in the story and bond with the characters. The wind, thunder and lightning supplements the idea of loss, trouble, suffer and
