The play could have ended differently if the characters acted more clever. The Montague and Capulet families could have approved the love of Romeo and Juliet, but they declined it, and wanted Juliet to marry Paris. If Romeo wasn’t so hasty, he would have known that Juliet was still alive, and under a drug. Friar Lawrence should have sent the letter before Juliet drank the drug, this would have made less problems. At the beginning of the story, the Montague and Capulet families were enemies, as they had an ancient grudge towards each other. Capulet decides that Juliet needs to marry Paris, and Juliet decides to make up a lie which leads to her death. This wouldn’t have happened if the Montague and Capulet families settled their argument and let them be together. Capulet states that “You're not really giving me any thanks or showing me any pride.
