Would you commit homicide on two separate occasions, be banished from your town, and commit suicide for that food? My answer is no, but this is precisely what Romeo did in the play Romeo and Juliet 1591-1595 by William Shakespeare. The thesis statement for Romeo and Juliet is Romeo is the most at fault for the tragic events of the play. Romeo was fatally impulsive. For example, in the play Romeo falls in love at first sight with Julliet even when he was in love with Rosaline. A quote from Romeo: "Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night." (I. vi. 59). From this we can infer that Romeo is impetuous because love at first sight does not really exist. And if it does, not at this level. Moreover, this is demonstrated when Romeo says: "But this I pray, That thou consent to marry us to-day" (III. iii. 64). This nature causes him to fall under great infatuation putting him in misery. This causes him to make extemporaneous decisions to fix things for the short term and not really think about it for the long term. This recklessness is what causes his downfall. For example in V. iii. 94 and 95 Romeo observes Juliet and says the following: “Thou art not conquered.
