Romeo and Juliet's Fate Romeo and Juliet are star-crossed lovers whose fate was doomed from the start. After the Capulet party Romeo fled his friends by jumping over a wall, which brought him to Juliet's balcony, Juliets wedding date was moved from Thursday to Wednesday giving her less time to perfect her plan, and Lord Capulet gave Paris Juliet’s hand in marriage. Romeo ran away from his friends and jumped a fence which led him to Juliet's balcony. Right after the Capulet party Romeo ran away from Benvolio and Mercutio because he was distruaght about how he couldn’t be with Juliet. “‘Can I go forward when my heart is here?/ Turn back, dull earth, and find thy center out.’” Benvolio says ‘“ He ran this way and leapt this orchard wall./ Call, good Mercutio.’” (Shakespeare 37) When Romeo jumped the fence he didn’t know that he would end up in Juliet's backyard. Lord Capulet was talking to Paris and told him that they hadn't convinced him to marry Juliet. Paris was hesitant; he told Lord Capulet that it wasn’t perfect timing for love, but the Lord wanted him to marry her as soon as possible. “‘Monday! Ha, ha. Well, Wednesday is too soon, /O' Thursday let it be.—O' Thursday, tell her/, She shall be married to this noble earl.— “‘ These times of woe afford no time to woo./ Madam, good night. Commend me to your daughter.’” (Shakespeare 89) Paris wasn’t anticipating to marrying Juliet at the moment, but Lord Capulet couldn’t have it any other way. He told Paris to tell Juliet that she was getting married, his word choice shows us that he is a very demanding man that wants what is best for his daughter. Juliet didn’t know that she was getting married to Paris, she was angry when she found out, so she came up with a plan to have a changer with her lover
