“Thus with a kiss I die.” those are the words Romeo says before taking his own life. The play Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare. The play is about two teenagers and their one-week love story that ends in tragedy. Aristotle's definition of a tragic hero includes the tragic heroes usually having a character flaw that leads to their downfall, the person is basically good, and by the end, they recognize their character flaw. While Romeo and Juliet are considered tragic heroes, they are missing the fact that they never recognized their character flaws. In Romeo and Juliet, both characters have flaws that lead to their downfall. Juliet’s character flaw is her impulsiveness. That means she doesn’t think about any decisions and their consequences but just does them. For instance, when Friar came up with the plan to fake her death, she agreed to it right away and didn’t think about anyone else. She also didn’t think about how the plan could go wrong and acted impulsively. Romeo’s passion can be both his greatest strength but also his biggest flaw. His passion really drives him over the edge. His love for Juliet pushes him to make poor decisions because he is so passionate. In the end, his passion leads him to death. Romeo makes some bad choices like when he kills Tybalt. That was a very bad decision he made which leads to more decisions. When he poisoned himself because he thought Juliet was dead. While those choices were very controversial, Romeo is overall a good person. Juliet is also a noble person who makes questionable decisions. When she decides to go along with the Friar's plan, she makes a bad decision. By faking her death, Romeo then kills himself, and when she wakes she kills herself. So while she is a good person she does make bad choices. While Romeo and Juliet make controversial choices they are still good
