Where do anger and grudges really get us? A long-lasting feud between the Montagues and the Capulets led to no good. Romeo and Juliet, two lovers whose lives come to an end due to this feud. What could have prevented their fate? Anger and grudges have no positive results and is adequately proven through the events in Romeo and Juliet by the ill-fated death of Romeo and Juliet, and the death of family members from each house, which could all be prevented if this ever lasting anger towards each other was forgotten. The prologue of Romeo and Juliet gives us a background on the long-lasting grudge held between the Montagues and Capulets. “From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, where civil blood makes civil hands unclean”, this line in the prologue …show more content…

This fight causes the prince to declare death on any member from either house, who is involved in a future fight. All this fighting could have been avoided if the long-lasting feud had just been over. How would things be different in Romeo and Juliet if the families had given up the grudge? If the families had given up the grudge, there would have been a lot less deaths. Both Mercutio and Tybalt's death wouldn’t have happened if the families got along and if they weren't actively trying to go after each other. If the houses didn’t dislike each other so much, Romeo and Juliet wouldn’t have to hide their love and their marriage and could’ve lived on. Due to the families grudge and anger, Romeo and Juliet had to keep their marriage a secret which ultimately led to their death. The families didn’t give up this ancient grudge until something tragic happened. After Romeo and Juliet's death, the families decided to give up the grudge and create a memorial to remember Juliet's faithfulness to Romeo. If the families had let go of this anger, a lot of death could have been prevented and Romeo and Juliet wouldn’t feel the need to hide their
