Haste is when someone does things too quickly. This is often experienced in today's world when, for example, a group of people make plans the day before they happen. This can often lead to unprecedented results. This theme lives in the text Romeo and Juliet where the author, William Shakespeare, delivers the message that when an individual has to deal with haste then it causes this individual to make without much thought which leads to negative outcomes and consequences.

Romeo and Juliet is a story about two star-crossed lovers who take their own lives. The events leading up to the tragedy were influenced by haste; throughout the play, Juliet was faced with many decisions she had to make in very little time. Decisions made by Juliet that were influenced by haste were what lead to their unfortunate deaths. Had Juliet not been faced with haste, a different outcome may have happened. Juliet being faced with haste was evident in Act 4 of the play when her father, Capulet, said, "I'll have this knot kit up to-morrow morning." Juliet talks to herself about her concerns regarding the friar's potion and what dangers come up with it. Given the circumstances, she makes her decision in haste without fully thinking of all the possibilities of what could happen if any of her concerns proved fruitful. Not only that, but she also took the potion without consulting Friar Laurence in regard to the time frame they had to pull this off. With this scene Shakespeare shows the reader that when faced with a hasty situation, an individual often will not put much thought into their decisions at that particular time.
