Through "Romeo and Juliet", written by Shakespeare, the characters were at the mercy of fate. The plot was manipulated in the story by fate shown through Shakespeare's intent and dialogue. Furthermore, fate planned of all the events that occurred for the protagonists in the story. “Oh[,] I am fortune’s fool[,]” lastly, fate decided how each and every character lived and died. The characters in "Romeo and Juliet" were all orchestrated by destiny. The whole plot for “Romeo and Juliet” was arranged by fate itself with Shakespeare’s intent and dialogue. As stated in the prologue, Romeo and Juliet fell in love, died and ended their families’ feud. “…pair of star-cross’d lovers take their life…[d]oth with their death bury their parents’ strife.” Here, Shakespeare’s intent/prologue foreshadowed the tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, manipulated by fate. Before a servant could inform Romeo that Juliet was alive, the servant went missing. "Unhappy fortune[.]" Here, Friar Lawrence assumed fate has once again prevented Romeo and Juliet being together. Furthermore, after Mercutio is stabbed, he shouted, "[a] plague o' both your houses[.]" Here, he believed that the two houses are to blame; the feud - an event - between the two houses were manipulated by fate to begin the whole story.
