Many believers in astrology claim that stars control the fates and the destiny of humans. The term “star-crossed” has been used a multitude of times to describe two people whose relationship is doomed to fail. Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, is a play about the title characters who are described as star-crossed lovers. The stars didn’t align for the couple, so a terrible fate was predetermined for them. Romeo and Juliet’s end was tragic, however, their love should be viewed positively because it was beautiful and valid. To Romeo, Juliet was a ray of sunshine that had come to save him from his misery. To Juliet, Romeo was a factor that she had an option over. As stated before, Verona in the 1700s had strict social normalities. Most of the time, the nobles had their entire life planned out for them, and their decisions were all made for them. The love between Romeo and Juliet helped them to mature and become more independent in expressing their desires. They both agreed to be with each other by themselves and pledged to each other. They found new meanings in life because of each other. Despite all that has been said, some may still disagree with the two's love. While many could state that Romeo and Juliet fell in love too quickly and suddenly to bear true feelings towards each other, there is also evidence that can argue against that. Even though their first impressions of each other were simply out of infatuation and physical attraction, when they realized how passionate the other was, they also felt an emotional attraction. Their love is further defended by how willing they were to kill to be with each other, whether it be someone else or themselves.
