William Shakespeare’s: “Romeo and Juliet” A Story About a Tragedy Did you know that a Romance is supposed to end with both characters happy? Romeo and Juliet are a story about two characters that are in love. Their families are enemies. Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet. So, when they discover they “love” each other, both characters soon realize what family they are a part of. Later in the story everything goes down hill until they both die. Romeo and Juliet are a tragedy. If Romeo and Juliet were to be a romance, then why do both die? This quote states “O true apothecary! The drugs are quick. Thus, with a kiss I die.” (Shakespeare 178). This is about Romeo buying poison to die. This is the same as the last quote “This is thy sheath; there is rust and let me die.” (Shakespeare 799). An example is “We will have vengeance for it, fear thou not.” (Shakespeare 768). This quote is talking about when Romeo killed Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin, and the person saying the quote is Juliet’s mother. This quote also states “Come to redeem me? There’s a fearful point! Shall I not then be stifled in the vault, to whose foul mouth no health some air breathes in, and there die strangled ere my Romeo comes?” (Shakespeare 782). This quote is when Juliet had to drink the sleeping potion so she could avoid marrying Paris. So I’ll say it again, if this be a Romance then Juliet and Romeo shouldn’t have to go the extra mile so many
