Juliet, a Capulet, always used her words to express her love. When Juliet spoke of her love for Romeo she was always very crisp in what she wanted to say. Shakespeare made Juliet a character who was very skeptical about her feelings in the play write, Romeo and Juliet. However, he did make Juliet a very determined young woman when it came to expressing her love. We hear all of Juliet’s true thoughts and feelings through soliloquies throughout the play and develop the type of girl Juliet is. Juliet always expresses her feelings towards someone/something through her words and everything she says defines love truly even if it’s the most subtle feeling. Juliet always speaks of how pure her love is for Romeo and how much he would do for him. In this case Romeo is kicked out of Verona for an incident that occurred and Juliet will do anything to see him. “Romeo, Romeo, Romeo, I drink to thee” -Juliet (4.3.58). Juliet drinks a potion that makes her fake her death for forty-eight hours. She does this all to be with Romeo. Before taking this potion she was very hesitant and thought of all the horrible outcomes of the plans but then she saw the bright side. Which is, if the plan went as planned, then she would be able to be with Romeo, her true love. Juliet talks and confesses her love for Romeo, thinking she may never wake up from the potion, but she does wake up. However, when she does awaken, she awakens to a dead Romeo who has poisoned himself because he was convinced that Juliet was dead. Juliet saddened by his death makes a life ending decision to be with him. “This is thy sheath; there rust, and let me die”- Juliet (5.3.170). Juliet, who was stricken with the death of her newly wedded husband kills herself because her love overpowered all her decisions.
