The theme of love is the most important and most powerful theme in Romeo and Juliet. This play focuses on the romance/ love at first sight between Romeo and Juliet. The love between the two of them is a violent, overpowering fore that replaces all their emotions and values. No other relationships in Romeo and Juliet are as upstanding as theirs. So it is easy to see that Shakespeare respected the power of love but also the transience of it. There is death everywhere in Romeo and Juliet. The threat of violence/ death starts in the first acts and progresses throughout the play. An example of violence/ death in Romeo and Juliet is when Romeo tries to commit suicide in Act III. Because the play starts out with tragic and has a lot of tragic moments
