Act 1 started off with Benvolio and Mercutio walking down the street. Benvolio wants to go inside because he doesn’t want to run into the Capulet’s and start a fight, but they run into Tybalt, who is looking for a fight. Tybalt asks where Romeo is because he wants to have a duel with him. Romeo enters and tries to calm Tybalt down, so they don’t have to fight. Tybalt and Mercutio ignore all of it and draw out their swords. In the middle of their fight, Romeo jumps in to stop the fight. The two stop, but Tybalt reaches between Romeo’s arms and stabs Mercutio. Tybalt runs away, but Romeo chases him and kills him. The Prince arrives and sees that one of his close relatives had been killed. Benvolio told the Prince what happened, but Lady Capulet tried to change the story. The Prince banishes Romeo since the one who killed his close relative, Tybalt, was killed by Romeo. …show more content…
Juliet starts to pretend to mourn about her cousin, but is actually mourning about Romeo being banished. The Nurse tells Juliet where Romeo is hiding. Juliet gives Romeo a ring and tells the Nurse to give it to him. Meanwhile, Romeo and Friar are talking about Romeo’s punishment, banishment. Romeo says that banishment is equivalent to death. He says that outside of Verona he is a nobody and will die from being away of from Juliet. Someone begins to knock on the door and Friar tells Romeo to hide, but he would rather be killed than be banished. The person at the door announced that it was the Nurse and Friar immediately opens the door. Romeo gets up from crying and talks to the Nurse. The Nurse tells Romeo that Juliet feels the same way and she wants to meet him. The next scene transitions over to the Capulet’s house. Capulet and Lady Capulet agree that they want Paris to marry Juliet on
