Romeo and Juliet In the book Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare the story ends in tragedy. Throughout the story the two main characters fall deeply in love. Romeo and Juliet has many themes. Romeo and Juliet is the greatest love story of all time. The book focuses on the romance between the two star crossed lovers. It also causes lots of death and heartbreak throughout the story and for those reasons it also a tragedy. But the most important theme is the power of love because it brought to families together. Tragedy is one major theme in Romeo and Juliet. Death is everywhere. Throughout the story many of the characters die. Mercutio was first stabbed and killed by Tybalt. This made Romeo very angry and he then killed Tybalt. But the most famous part of the story is when the two main characters commit suicide. Romeo is the first to commit suicide because he thought the Juliet was dead. He didn’t want to live without her so he killed himself. He saw the poison in the vial and he drank it. Even through all the tragedy loves seems to overcome it all. There are many examples of love throughout the story but the best one is how love brought Romeo and Juliet together. The moment they saw each other they knew they were going to be together for the rest of their lives. It was love at first site. Another example is that love brought two families close together. Two families that have been in a feud for several years came together and made peace. “O brother Montague, give me thy hand. This is my daughter’s jointure, for no more can I demand” (5.3 305-310). After the tragic death of their children, both families agree to bury their grievances.This is the part where the two families end the rivalry. Capulet is getting along with Montague.
