In essence, prestigious playwright William Shakespeare’s cult classic play Romeo and Juliet further conveys the prior lyrics and world-renowned Greek philosopher Aristotle’s tragic hero theory. Romeo and Juliet immensely fit the criteria for being tragic heroes in several different ways. Romeo and Juliet are both the children of nobility and high stature. Their parents are both lords and ladies and their families are “both alike in dignity.” The fact that Romeo and Juliet both believe in love at first sight and are married so swiftly in less than 24 hours after they meet uncovered their primary character flaw: they consistently act based on their frail and fragile emotions without thinking of the logical consequences of the actions they may commit. For example, Romeo acts out his rage and kills Tybalt in revenge for Mercutio without considering the effect this would have on his new wife, who is Tybalt’s kin, and their infant marriage. Another example of Juliet's desperation to avoid marrying Paris, Juliet agrees to Friar Laurence’s poorly thought-out plan. Upon hearing his wife is dead, Romeo immediately buys poison from a sketchy drug dealer and kills himself, only for his wife to wake up from her ruse seconds
