The tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is one of the most iconic love stories ever told. Composed of teenage lovers from two rival families, the Montagues and the Capulets. This tragedy is a result of multiple characters and their actions, and decisions that all lead to the couple’s ultimate demise. Every single event and person contributed to this; they had some sort of part in this. Ultimately, the ones to blame are Friar Lawernce and Tybalt. For their connections to Romeo and Juliet and their misjudgments causes Romeo and Juliet to a catastrophic end. Friar Lawrence plays a crucial role in the course of the play by giving counsel to both Romeo and Juliet, and ultimately it is due to his actions that their fate is sealed. Tybalt is a fiery, arrogant character, he is always fighting and trying to prove some sort of dominance. He instigated many fights with the Montagues. He first recognizes Romeo at the Capulet’s party and immediately challenges him to a fight. Tybalt’s offensive and intolerant attitude towards Romeo’s presence shows the level of his temperament and the later influence he will have. Driving a deeper wedge between the Capulet and Montague families. Romeo and Juliet are trying to peaceably bring their families together, but Tybalt continues to fuel the feud by constantly provoking and challenging Romeo to a fight. He tells Romeo to “be ready, grace my sword” (Act 3, Scene 1). When the fight does occur, both Tybalt and, Romeos close friend, Mercutio are killed. The Capulets are devastated, and Romeo is banished from Verona. Tybalt’s unyielding rage and faithfulness to the Capulet family has caused major damage to Romeo and Juliet and their respective families.
