One of the biggest mistake Romeo made was when he killed Tybalt instead of using his brain his impulse got the best of him. “Alive in triumph—and Mercutio slain! Away to heaven, respective lenity, and fire-eyed fury be my conduct now. Now, Tybalt, take the “villain” back again That late thou gavest me, for Mercutio’s soul Is but a little way above our heads, staying for thine to keep him company. Either thou or I, or both, must go with him” (Act3, Scene1, Lines81-91). As Romeo’s impulse took over he didn’t think about killing Tybalt first he just killed him and after killing Tybalt he regretted it as he realized he just killed his brother-in-law. As Romeo killed someone he would also be banished from Verona and that meant he couldn’t meet Juliet anymore. Tybalt was so impulsive that didn’t think about what would happen if he killed Mercutio. “I am for you. (draws his sword)” (Act3, Scene1, Line19). If Tybalt never fought Mercutio and killed him he would never die as Romeo wouldn’t have killed him because he is impulsive too. Tybalt’s anger is also one of his tragic flaws. When the story first started, the servants were fighting and Benvolio tried to break up the fight but Tybalt got angrier and instead of being peaceful like Benvolio he wanted to fight because he got angry. “What, drawn, and talk of peace? I hate the word, As I hate hell, all Montagues, and thee. Have at thee, coward! (Act1, Scene1, Lines60-62). As Tybalt got very angry a fight broke out and because of that fight the banishment rule was made, if they never fought they wouldn’t have had any problems. Tybalt’s tragic flaws contributed to the tragedy greatly as almost all the fights were started by him because he was impulsive and had anger
