Ronald Reagan was well known for being the 40th president of the United States. He was a hero for ending the Cold War. He believed in “Peace through Strength.” But Ronald Reagan did a lot more than just bring an end to the Soviet Union. The positive accomplishments he had, make me think Ronald Reagan was the MVP.
Ronald Reagan believed in the literacy effort. He wanted to educate illiterate adults across America. Reagan’s goal was to wipe out illiteracy among 23 million Americans(New York Times, 3 May 2018). Reagan believed that illiterate adults negatively impacted the economy. Reagan went on and wrote the Proclamation 5519, it talked about the importance of literacy in adults. Reagan made September, Adult Illiteracy Awareness Month.
