Taking risks Taking risks, a decision that can be dangerous to achieve a goal. It’s better sometimes to take a risk than to take a more reasonable course of action, because sometimes those risks can result in success. In the book “Room” Ma and jack took risks to save their own lives. Ma takes a different variety of risks in and outside of Room. She tries to fight Old Nick in the room, but it does not work and her wrist is badly injured. “Jumped up and twisted my wrist and got the knife.”(96) Another thing she does is pretends Jack is dead to trick Old Nick into taking Jack outside so he could rescue. “ So I think wrapping you up in the rug is the only way to keep him from guessing you’re actually alive.” (124).
