The two derivatives of the Chicago School Theory are identified as the Situational Crime Prevention Theory and the Routine Activity Theory. Both theories recognize the opportunity for crimes to be committed. These opportunities are presented by the physical environment and the actions of individuals. These theories present a dynamic shift from an offender’s motivation to the presence of opportunity for crimes to be permitted.
