A Rube Goldberg project is a complicated way to do a simple task. In our project we decided to crack an egg. We designed a complex way in order to do this simple task. First of all, we decided to have a catapult fling a bouncy ball into to dominos which would set off a mousetrap. Then, the mousetrap would pull a string to releases a ball down a slide. The golf ball would fly down a race track and then set off another mousetrap. Next, the mousetrap would pull a string out of a book which would close the book on top of scissors. Finally, the scissors would cut a string which is holding up a dumbbell and the dumbbell would crack the egg which is sitting in a bowl. This is the project we decided to design in order to crack our egg. In our first …show more content…

The dominoes and mousetrap acted as a lever. Out of the three different classes of levers. The mousetrap qualified as a first-class lever is like a teeter-totter at the park. The pivot point is called the fulcrum, the person being lifted is the load, and the person on the other end is the effort force. We brought in the mousetrap too use in our project; we just had to rest the mousetrap every time we tested the project.
In our third step, the mousetrap had a string wrapped around the end so when the mousetrap is set off it pulls the string. At the end of the string we had a balloon with a piece of cardboard stuck in it to hold something in place. We had a piece of wood between the mousetrap and the string with a nail we used as a pulley. So when the mousetrap would set off it would pull the string in the opposite direction. The nail, string, nail, and balloon were both required to be used in our project. The fourth step, golf ball released. The slide was connected to hot wheels tracks. We had some jenga pieces and duct tape holding the marble slide up. Also, we hammered the slide to the wood with the nail that acted as a pulley. The slide would be classified as a inclined plane. We were required to use the duct tape, marble slide, and
