Theme: Running away won 't solve all of your problems Criss Jami once said," If you build the guts to do something, anything, then you better save enough to face the consequences. One common theme shared in " The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass" and the article " Here is What Happens When You Run Away From All of Your Problems " is that running away won 't solve all of your problems. In the narrative it states that because of cruel punishments, Frederick ran through the cornfields to escape Master Covey in order to get to freedom. A few days after he had escaped, he returned because a slave told him too, and when did go back Covey pounced on him. Frederick states that, " I succeeded in getting to the cornfield; and as the corn was very high, it afforded me the means of hiding... [When he returned] I resolved to fight Covey."
