Jan 4, 2023 When young and immature people lack the experiences, they require the right type of influence to sway them to make better decisions in the future.This relates to the book Running Loose written by the author Chris Crutcher because in this story the main protagonist Louie Banks goes through multiple hardships which change him as a person. This story is about a seventeen year old kid named Louie Banks who learns how to go through the hardships of life. And the feeling of loss which causes him to mature earlier than most would at his age. Louie struggles throughout the book but has help from Dakota, Fred Sanders and Norm.

Dakota helps Louie throughout the story, Dakota is not just an acquaintance

This helps Louie understand that life is difficult sometimes and that it's not just sunshine and rainbows Another way he helps Louie is after Louie quit the football team for honor Dakota gave him advice saying “you do what you got to do”. Implying that he thinks Louie should just do whatever he thinks is right no matter the outcome This helps Louie because after this encounter with Dakota Louie really takes to heart what he said. This makes Louie mature in that aspect. Another person who helps Louie is Fred Sanders, who is the father of Louie's passed girlfriend Becky. He is a chill dad who was close with his daughter but still gave her space to do what she wanted since the divorce of the parents. He would let her make her own choices not only that but he would help Louie. He helps Louie with dealing with Beckys death by inviting Louie to his house. Once Louie gets there he welcomes Louie with open arms. They both sat down and talked about how it's not fair that

They talked a little bit and he even offered him a beer. They both comforted each other and reminisced memories about becky.He tells Louie “ I’ve been around long enough to see death—stupid, senseless death—but I don’t think I could have handled it at your age. Not with someone I loved.” This helps Louie understand the importance of memories and the cycle of life. Another way Fred Sanders helps Louie, is when Louie had an outburst at Becky's funeral due to the crazy emotions that were stirring in his head even though Louie did this Mr.Sanders stuck right by his side. This all teaches and makes Louie mature, that in life you have to appreciate the time you have with someone because you never know when they'll be taken away from you. Another person who helps Louie is Norm, his dad. His dad is supportive; he has never judged Louie before and always stands by him no matter what he does. They have a great relationship and he helps through tough times. One way Norm helps Louie is by selling his truck to Louie But only if he works for it and that once Louie has enough money his truck is as good as his. This helps Louie understand that in the long run you have to work for what you want in life. Another
