The hypothesis for increasing running speed while wearing sunglasses was rejected. The data used in the experiment to support the hypothesis was that having participants run with sunglasses actually decreased the running speed of the runner. Although running speeds were decreased, there was no rapid change. The average time for the control group, participants running without sunglasses, is 45.4 seconds. The average time for the experimental group, participants running with sunglasses, is 47.6 seconds. A 2.2 second difference was observed between the two averages.
