During World War One, Russia was at war with Germany. A huge Russian army was formed by forcing working class and peasant men to join. Although the Russian army had great numbers, the soldiers were not armed or trained to fight. Many of them were sent into battle without shoes, food, and even weapons. Over three years, about two million soldiers were killed in battle and over five million were wounded. The Russian people blamed the Russian emperor Tsar Nicholas II for joining the World War one and so many young people dead.

The Russian Revolution began with the February Revolution, which was one of the most chaotic rebellion in history. On February 23th, 1917, which was the International Women's Day (1917 Russia revolution, 2018), women workers walked onto the street to protest food shortage and soon men joined them. On next day, many workers decided to strike. They started to rebel. Russia emperor, the Tsar Nicholas II, ordered the military and police to suppress the rebellion. However, many soldiers refused to fire at the Russian people and the army was no longer loyal to the Tsar. After a few days of riots, the army turned against the Tsar and joined the rebellion. After the breakdown of the demonstration, the new leader of Provisional government Kerensky ordered to arrest the leaders of Bolshevik, he accused them of being in collusion with the Germans. Many leaders were arrested, but Lenin escaped to Finland. After he escaped, he hided and wrote “State and Revolution”, which outlined his ideas for a socialist government (Wikipedia, 1917).
