My first reason for applying to the Rutgers University School of Social Work is researching the university of recognized as one of the top universities worldwide. Secondly, I am relocating after fifteen years back to Camden, New Jersey area. I believe my personal reasons of applying to one of the well-known universities in the nation, is learning new avenues of becoming a licensed social worker. Further, my professional reason for applying to the Rutgers University School of Social Work is discovering how to adapt to change and develop skills of professionalism.

Homelessness is not an issue a person plans in life, it is reality. I once experience living in my vehicle, no funds, and hungry in Georgia. I am passionate and can relate to a person of homelessness. I believe as a professional social worker in alleviating this issue, I would ask for assistance from the appropriate personnel at Rutgers, how to complete a grant program. Furthermore, the grant program may support a homeless individual from living off the streets in New Jersey.

I believe my skills and strengths I would gain from the Rutgers University School of Social Work would be to develop and acquire more knowledge in the field of social work and how to advocate within the community of New Jersey. Since I am a non-traditional African American female, no children, no husband, I have gained insight while attending my undergraduate study, how to adapt to everyday life.
