Rutherford County Sheriff One of the largest sheriff offices in the Middle Tennessee area, covering over 626 square miles, with a force of 178 sworn law enforcement. Of the 178 deputies, 37 are resource officers, 7 assigned to courthouse security,135 Audit Detention Personnel, and 68 civilian personnel. In addition, the responsibility of approximately five square miles of Percy Priest Reservoir that lie inside the county. The Rutherford Sheriff’s offices have three primary areas: • Law Enforcement • Adult Detention • Court Security and Enforcement As well as these main functions, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office brought the Resource Officer program to schools in the state of Tennessee, and now have officers in 40 county schools teaching, advising and protecting. Adult Detention Division - A 958-hundred-person correctional facility under the supervision of the current Sheriff Robert F. Arnold and Major Tommy Thompson. Diving Team – Composed of divers from the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office and Rutherford County Ambulance Service. Felony Arrest Search Tactical (F.A.S.T.) Team – Consists of a nine-man entry team, four-man sniper team and a commander. Murfreesboro Police Department The city of Murfreesboro’s current City manager is Rob Lyons and the current Chief of Police is Glenn Chrisman, but effective 31 December he will be retiring. The Police Department staffs approximately 317 employees. The many changes of the role that the police department play in regards to the law as it applies. Communications The Murfreesboro PD/Fire Communications Centers serve the community by answering emergency and non-emergency requests. Criminal Investigations Division This division investigates crimes, is currently is divided into four
