The SAT and ACT needs to be changed
The SAT and ACT have made a considerable impact on students nowadays in society through college admissions. Although there are benefits to the test such as scholarships and ranking, some students have struggles and unfairness through the test, especially with low-income or minority backgrounds. In addition, students also have had test anxiety while taking the SAT and ACT which discourages them from the test. For instance, SAT and ACT need to be changed since it hinders students’ learning and anxiety and is a disadvantage for low-income and minority students. My opposing opponent may change the test to online so that students do not feel anxious about taking it. This change may help students not worry about time or rushing through tests while they can see the timer online. There are still ways the test can change for the better of other students such as using GPA and the student’s high school ranking. These alternatives offer a better result for the student applying for colleges since it makes it fair for other students who did poorly on the SAT and ACT. In addition, the changes in SAT and ACT would benefit the students by not having to stress financially and mentally on prepping for the SAT and ACT for college admission. Nowadays, SAT and ACT have affected students in good ways but bad for others that have disadvantages with the test affecting their chances to get into college.
Although my point of view on the SAT and ACT differs from others, some have said that the SAT and ACT were beneficial. My opposition explains their belief that the SAT and ACT benefit the students and do not hurt them. Their counter argument includes how SAT and ACT
