I began my education at Stephen F. Austin State University, which was founded as a teacher’s college in 1923. That is why I chose SFASU because I wanted to teach children, plus I wanted to concentrate on teaching them to read. I received my B.S. in Elementary Education and Generic Special Education in 1985. I concentrated on working with the at-risk population and began my journey as an educator in January 1986. I quickly realized that I had a thirst for knowledge and set a goal to continue my education until one day I would receive my doctorate in education. In 1992, I graduated from Stephen F. Austin with M.Ed. as a Reading Specialist. It was during that time, I became fascinated with the testing process because of the many classes I was taking dealing with testing. As a Special Education teacher, I had reviewed many reports on my students. I was intrigued with how outside sources affected the process, being able to watch the subject as they process information, and in the end create a report that represented that person. …show more content…
However, I miss not being part of an education system. I decided I would continue my interest in testing and become certified as an Educational Diagnostician. I was impressed that Texas Tech University offered an online program, plus Texas Tech is nationally ranked for their online M.Ed. in Special Education. So not only will I receive an Educational Diagnostician certification but another Master in Education. I plan to use this degree to reenter the school system, but also to help pay for my ultimate goal of receiving my doctorate. Not only does TTU offer a great program where I can receive my Educational Diagnostician certification but I found the perfect Ph.D. program. I am excited to start this new journey in life with Texas Tech University this
