I grew up in a very Roman Catholic religious community. The church leaders encouraged people to fellowship on sundays and get to know one another, their neighbors and the community in which they were living in. They discouraged people not to go to the farms on sundays and work because of sabbath. I would like for the library to be open on sundays or at least during certain hours on sundays. I understand the importance of Sabbath and Calvin’s mission as a Christian institution but we need to consider the small percentage of students that need that library setting environment to study. The role/responsibility/priority of the college. Because Sunday is the day which students spend the most time on studying, and library is a good studying spot. In my opinion, this means that sundays are the days that some students do their homework and they need once again that library setting to really be able to concentrate and finish their work. That is why the college is here for, to provide and assist the students with any resources they need in order to succeed and thrive while at the college and beyond. 2. The meaning of Sabbath keeping. Sabbath is a different day for people. Some people take their sabbath on saturdays while others took it on sundays. Just because some prefer the sabbath to be on saturdays doesn’t necessarily mean that everyone else should have view sabbath on sundays. 3.The identity of Calvin as a Christian university. Indeed Calvin is Christian institution but other offices like campus safety are working on sundays. Yes, they do take turns but why is it so hard to not take turns for the library hours? 3. b.
