The Sac and Fox are originally from Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Canada, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa. There are multiple different branches if the Sac and Fox Indians, all from different regions of the United States. Originally the culture of the tribe was from the Eastern Woodlands region and a little bit of Plains region traits. For most of their History they settled around the Saginaw Bay in the eastern part of Michigan. Eventually at some point in the 17th Century they were forced out by the Ottawa and Neutral Groups. The tribe fled to the North across the Strait of Mackinac and then South to Wisconsin. Around 1667 in present day Green Bay, Wisconsin there were about 6500 people. Usually the Sac and Fox were known for their farming of maize, beans, and squash, but they also Hunted and Raided a lot of the time. At first the Sac and Fox were two separate tribes and eventually merged together around 1730. The Fox were known for being ruthless warriors and always were at war with the Ojibwa Tribe. The Sac and Fox joined together to fight in wars against Illinois, Sioux, and also the French. The French had almost wiped out the Fox and so they eventually made it official that they would join the Sac and ever since they’ve been known as the Sac and Fox Tribe. The Sac and Fox have done a ton of moving around throughout their history, they have lived in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Canada, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa.
